Time flies because...life is short! Think about it, compared to the thousands and thousands of years of human history and the thousands of years yet to come, 80 years of one human life (if we're lucky) is barely a drop in the ocean of existence.
Life is really just a process of dying, as they say. Change happens as part of this process and we have emotional reactions to those changes. It's one long mourning process. (This sounds a little pessimistic, but maybe it's just realistic, it definitely helps put things in perspective.) Well, it's no wonder we feel pretty messed up most of the time. But everything is a part of the process and even every part of the process can be a process. I feel like that is why everything happens for a reason. [The functionalism of the nature of existence - the fact that if one thing goes a bit off-balance then another area has to compensate for the imbalance - if it's just natural for things to work themselves out like that then it proves that everything that happens is meant to happen and it's just part of a process.]
So, when someone is dying there are two options: artificially prolong the life, or increase the quality of life for the time remaining. We already know this stuff. We could spend our energy commiserating over the fact that we are dying and anxiously trying to figure out how to prolong it, or we can spend the remaining energy by increasing the quality of it. Since selfish intensions prove to only lead to further suffering we might be better off instead doing what we can to increase the quality of the lives around us (which is proven to ultimately have positive affects on our own lives - *By ignoring any direct pursuit to prolong our own life we may actually indirectly end up prolonging it anyways, kinda cool).
I mentioned in a previous status- We do have a terminal illness: It's called birth! (Dan Millman) The facts are that life truly is short and time truly does fly these days. So what are you gonna do about it?
**just food for thought, if any of that made sense. its mostly to get my ideas out and hopefully motivate myself lol. It's that stuff you have to write down so that you can clear your mind in order to sleep. and this was written at 3:50am because...yeah, i had an espresso after dinner last night LOL**
